Laptop video card

I am trying to find out if an ATi Radeon 9700 Mobility graphics card in an Acer laptop can have the memory upgraded on it??

no usually with laptops, what is buy, is what your stuck with.. im sorry

 

You can upgrade the system memory, and then change the memory used by the graphics card in BIOS, as the video memory is just a section of the system memory, usually.

Oh, and nVidia has announced a standard PCI interface for laptops, so we can FINALLY upgrade graphics cards in laptops! Yay

This sounds like a good idea to try out, since other ways are pretty much nonexistant. What are the procedures to upgrading/changing the memory used by the card in BIOS? Aside from hitting F1 to get into the BIOS, is it just a matter of making the memory selection from the dropdowns?

 

somebody else posted a thread with links on how to replace a dell laptops graphics card ... but id only recommend that if you're willing to get your hands dirty ... if it is even possible with an Acer as the hardware would very different

thanx for the replies. it is as I thought then, still never mind.

Tried to contact acer but didn't have any joy except some really crappy music on the hold!!

Cheers any way. I expect the 64Megs will be ok as the user isn't a gamer 'cept solataire anyway.
