Hello! Not wanting to make a new thread about this topic, i was forced to since, although i had read all i could find and experienced the ideias posted, i am still in trouble.

Got a laptop running under windows 7 which, kinda randomly, freezes leaving no solution but to manualy turn off and re-boot. The "weird" part is that it doesnt happend in safe mode.

To try and fiz this issue i've runned Hitman Pro, Ccleaner, Autorun and a series of combinations in MSconfig. Hitman returns no malaware and the msconfig log show vary few "did not load"s:

Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\srv.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\parport.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\vga.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS

note: srv.sys and NDproxy.sys do have a sucessfull load line

Any help or sugestion would be very appreciated.
(to mods sorry if i posted in a wrong location but i am not sure if it is hardware/software/malaware)

    A big thank you, Jota

Hi my friend , welcome to MGs :major

You can inform us about your laptop model , at the bottom of the laptop there is a sticker in which the model is located , did you install any new software in your machine ? A lot of times graphic card drivers is the problem of that behavior :wave

Hi, thank you for your welcome and interest.

    It's a Toshiba Satelite A300-11D running a W7 SP1.
    For more specs: http://pastebin.com/e3aQfG8F

It's been going on for a while, been working on safe mode, but no hardware related software was instaled aside from yesterday cause i tried to updates the sound drivers.
I thought doing so because it's one of the diferences between safe an normal mode, no sound. Noobish me! :D

Been working around this so i also upgraded and uninstalled previous JAVA versions and runned rougue killer with unsucessfull results.

Can't find any more ideas, maybe not doing something right.
Dunno, lost and getting hungry xD

    Firstly
You can go to Start - Run msconfig - ok , you must opting for Strartup tab , you have to disable all - Apply - ok , windows is asking you about restart , go for it and look if the situation is the same as before , if the problem is existing .

    Secondly
You can download this useful cd ( don't loose it after the test )

    http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=82163

using this to burn to cd with this tool ( to create this from an clean machine , be careful )

    to check your machine :wave

    hi,

i did have all "stratup apps" disabled but freeze still occours.

Burned and booted avira's CD all goes well on booting until "system check" outputs a "failed to read file" error, leaving no option but to manualy re-boot again.
Spent 5 CDs, burnt in diferent machines still with the same output.

:( Was trying not to format, guess its coming up soon

    Thanks again, Jota

    Hi there,

bad news tried with a brand new hard drive that my friend had. It still freezes. Guessing not software or drives related right?

I also went onto control panel and disabled the CD/DVD drive thinking it could be it. It still freezes.

i am really getting clueless about this. HELP! :(

    best regards, Jota

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, JotaPx.

You mentioned Safe Mode - have you tried putting the machine through some stresses using Safe Mode w/Networking? You might try opening a couple of browser tabs/windows, having a couple of office apps open, anything to try to produce some change in symptoms. This is just to verify that the problem is indeed being caused by something other than Windows.

Hardware-wise: monitor any temperature sensors you can find, and you might consider re-seating any memory modules.

    hi,

yup, tried hard to make it freeze on safe mode through multiple tabs and browsers, down/uploading, programs, etc. even left it working straight for a couple of hours. Nothing.

1 minute, or more/less, in normal mode cabum! :S Making it not temperature realted i recon. (not heating that much either)

    thanks

after re-booting a zilion times and installing a milion drivers. somewhat like magic it aint freezing anymore, it seams... (cant isolate the problem due to multiple instalations at one time but my best guess is either it was power related drivers or CD/DVD)

thanks a bunch, topic may be closed, best regards J0TA.
