Laptop - white screen / but works when pushing thumb against it

Hi Guys,

My laptop has suddenly turned to a white screen as soon as I turn it on. But when I push my thumb into a certain part down the bottom right hand corner it works no problem, but the minute I remove my thumb its like whatever is on the screen is frozen like that?

Any idea how to fix this?

Sounds like the ribbon cable has come loose, or worse frayed.

What you need to do is remove the monitor bezel to find out what is going on.

How mechanically inclined are you?

 

It happened to me on two occasions... I temporarily fixed it by messing with the screws around the edge of the screen.

 

If you are so inclined, you could disassemble the bezel(s) and re-seat the ribbon cable. Just be careful, and static free.

 

If the machine is still under warranty send it back to the company, if it's no longer under warranty, then follow mekanic's advice.
