Laptop will not start up after update

I have an Acer Aspire 5515 laptop with Windows Vista Basic OS
AMD Athlon processor 2650e
CPU Speed 1600MHz
system BIOS version V1.00
VGA BIOS Version V010.055.000.049.029773

My laptop was bugging me to update it, and after it was updated wanted a restart. I allowed it and now the laptop will not boot up.
The laptop wants to launch startup repair, but will not go past the black screen with the green load bar.
I try to start it normally and it will flash and go back to the acer startup screen.
I try to start it in safe mode and it will not boot.

Some of the tips seem to be worth trying, especially the restore option, restoring while in Safe Mode to a time before the update (before the update that says Software Distribution System). The problem from the link appears to have been similar, although there isn't any mention that I saw of an update causing the problem.

I ran across something that said you may need to update your BIOS. I checked here:

Apparently, there is only one version of your BIOS, which would mean you have the newest one. I guess it could be another of your drivers, but there don't seem to be any updates for your drivers that I can see. They are all dated the same date.

If the system restore works, when the update comes back through, select the option to hide it, and it won't come back through.

 

Apologies theeviltwin. I see you can't boot into safe mode. You could try taking a look inside to see if the machine needs to be cleaned. Check around the fan areas to see if any dust is gathering...
