My laptop, a toshiba 4010, will not start up, i'm using Windows XP pro, it says windows did not start properly and asks me to start normally, last known good configuration or in safe mode, but i've tried all options and the result is the same - blue screen with "starting dump of physical memory, dump complete, please contact your system administrator" or something to that effect. Tried to repair XP but it just freezes on the first screen if I try to boot it, and sits there. I have only just recently done a new install of XP as I was getting blue screened a lot, but now it wont start at all. Any ideas? :cry

What did the blue screens say? You might have a hardware problem and re-installing XP would not fix that. Have you checked the RAM or the hard drive to see if they are okay?

As plodr suggests, you should post the blue screen error messages, and the error number and any filenames that are listed. A typical blue screen error would look something like this:
STOP:0x0000007E KERNEL_IN_PAGE_ERROR - win32k.sys - A problem ocurred which prevents Windows from starting, blah, blah ,blah.
The STOP number is what we need to really offer any accurate help, and if a file is listed (in my weak example, the filename is 'win32k.sys') we'd need that too....
