Laptop wont connect to internet ping lost 100%

My laptop was working fine then for no apparent reason wont connect to the internet. It is connecting to the router, (I have tried 3 different ones) but no internet on any. I ran cmd ping speedtest.net and it could not find the host. Tried ping 216.146.46.10 (advice from searched previous thread) and all 4 requests timed out (100% loss) Other laptop and wifi devices are working fine.

Any suggestions on what the issue is?

 

bit more info: I am using AVG free 2015 AV and Zone Alarm free Firewall

 

Have there been any updates which may have been installed for the WiFi?

You could start off by uninstalling any third party connection software if it is present, like HPConnect or whatever may be installed to connect to a router instead of Windows Wireless Zero configuration.

BTW, make, model, OS, and service pack please...

 

Thanks mekanic, It's a Samsung running on Windows 7 SP1. 64 bit

I uninstalled Zone Alarm (after switching Windows firewall on) and it's connecting to the internet now. Re installing Zone Alarm now to see if it stops it again.

Is Windows firewall sufficient if running alongside AVG free 2015?

It's what I run, along with the paid version of Malwarebytes which is invaluable.

I'll actually be upgrading from AVG Free to Kaspersky this week. After the $30 rebate from Staples, it's $20 for a 1 year license, $50 "out the door". Gotta stretch that dough...

 

Reinstalled zone alarm and its all working fine again. All ship shape. Strange though
