Laptop won't turn on

My husband has an Acer Aspire 5335-2238. He went to turn it on and nothing happened. My daughter has the same computer so he tried her battery and it still wouldn't turn on. He tried her power cord, no luck. Nothing at all lights up. Any suggestions before we take it to the shop?

 

was it dropped? and did you try his battery in your daughter's computer? i see a lot of times where it will be dropped while the power cord is plugged in or someone trips over the power cord while it's plugged in and will break the power connection to the sytem board and that would have to be repaired by someone that knows what they're doing

 

He took the battery out, cleaned the insides, and it works now!
