I have a laptop that is a few years old, its an apple that my daughter uses to chat with friends. It will no longer turn on. Should I toss it or take is somewhere to have it fixed?

it could be the power pack in the laptop or just a lose connection in the turn on button, so you could send it off to be fixed i'm sure. the price might be quite high though so check with them before doing anything.

Mac's have a PMU or Power Managemwnt Unit which trips as the result of a surge or other electrical issue. This will need to be reset and that may solve your problem. How to reset the PMU Depends on your laptop model. It's a small button on the back/top or it's a key combo or it's on hte M/B.

I looked at it yesterday and can not imagine where it is. I did press the power button and see that something is on cause I saw the caps light on. How do you reset? Just by pressing or sticking a pin in?
What is hte m/b - THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

What model laptop do you have? It's likely a key combo to reset PMU if you cannot find a very small button on the back/side/top of your laptop. Button hole is bi enough for a paperclip only.

Provide Model info and I should be able to give you key combo.
