Laptops, can be tricky.

Having not a lot else better to do tonight after I got in from work I thought, why not see what is under the hood of my laptop.
So upside down the laptop went, out came the screwdriver and I proceeded to unscrew what must of been a dozen screws from the back.
A few short sharp pulls on back case and not a lot moved, except my heart which went straight into my mouth as I heard a disturbingly loud cracking noise.
Of course this wasnt enough to prevent me from continuing to butcher my laptop, I was on a mission.

I eventually found the culprit as to why the case was holding firm. Four screws underneath the screen, completely inaccessible to a scredriver.
A quick 180 of the laptop, click open of the hinges, almost pull the wires out that connect the screen and the screws were ready to be unscrewed. Off they came and then so did the back, partially.
There was one screw holding the back together which i couldnt find, so I thought one more sharp pull couldnt hurt. Well it did, the wires connecting the mouse buttons came off with a ping.
Being 6'3" and weighing over 250lbs made it difficult for my shovel like hands to push the tiny wires back to where they came from. 45 minutes later the wires were back in!

Before I damaged anything else I decided it would be best to accept defeat and re-assemble. Took me nearly an hour to do. Of course I didnt take note of which screw came from where, so educated guesses were in great quantity.
Finally a good 2 hours after I started the process my laptop was back to how it was when I started, sitting back feeling rather proud of myself (why I dont know, I had accomplished nothing) I looked down and noticed 3 small screws sitting on the table. I have now convinced myself that these screws were spares.
My laptop is almost as good as new, except for the odd strain mark here and there.
Anyway, thats enough of my rambling for one night.

Not really sure why I posted about it, I think I need a hobbie.

Correction, One is more than any man wants to cope with. :)

Moral of my story, how about lessons I have learned.

    1) I am dim
    2) Can't think of the second lesson, the first one is holding me back

    Lesson 2:

    Large men shouldn't be (un)screwing a laptop.

You could still put it under the tires there after a typical rainy day and use it as a surfboard instead :D
