Laser Mouse Disabeling screen saver (please help)

I am asking this for a friend of mind. He jest installed a lazer mouse, and since then his screen saver will not come up, and his moniter will not shut down to save power. Ive searched for answers to this problem. I found this article from microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913405. Ive tried everything that is described in this article with no luck. Can someone out there please help me. Ive tried everything that I know of with no luck. The laser mouse is by microsoft.

 

Or is there a phone number that I can contact microsoft with and try to find out more information regarding this problem???

 

Is the laser mouse made by Microsoft?

Was PowerDVD installed?

Just a wild guess, but I've seen it before... What surface is the laser mouse on? On some surfaces, the mouse may think that it's moving when it's not. Like my mouse right now, it's slowly creeping to the left. I think he'd probably have noticed if this was the case, but who knows.

Power Dvd was installed. But i uninstalled it, as that was one of the suggestions made in that arriticle that i had a link to in my previous post. I really dont know what else to do. You would think that Microsoft would at least make there own products compatible with each other:confused

 

Is everything fully updated?

I know you said you tried everything in the article, but I overlooked this the first time I read it. At the very bottom under "Resolution" it gives a link to Windows Update and tells you what update to look for.
