Please forgive GT last night, it's not like him to make mistakes LOL (he NEVER makes them). I did post to him that "much aloha" was your sign off (I used to put "peace" but I already talk too much!!)
It was really late and I think he just got his South Seas babes mixed up (or maybe he was too into his conversation with Gina )

tee hee. i would never have noticed without you pointing that out. for the record though, hawaiian is a VERY piculier language. it is a string of feelings, and sights, as opposed to nouns, adverbs, etc. aloha is the feeling of warmth (or pain) you get when thinking of another. hence the duel meaning of hello and goodby, i love having you near, or i miss you.etc. when you shut your eyes and can feel another persons presence in you heart...thats aloha.

 

Kia Ora in Maori is much the same, and seeing as both race came originally from the same place, it's not surprising that they share a lot in common. Many of the legends have gods with the same name and even some of the legends are similar. E.G-
New Zealand was a great fish, caught by the god Maui, and there are tons of others.

 

yes, we have maori's come here. they have there own form of hula that appears much more aggressive than the hawaiian. they beat their chests and slap their bicepts. it sound more like "send out your women' than peace and love. then the maori's and the hawaiians have 'chanting matches'. it still sends chills (or should that be thrills) up my spine.

Sooooo.... If I want to say that my heart flutters whenever I think of you, that's aloha, and if I want to say that you're a pain in the butt, that's aloha too? No wonder there's so much peace in Hawaii. Nobody knows when they're being insulted.

 

not quite, i meant the pain of loving someone. they speak in riddles. the insults are subtle and normally compared to some sort of weather or other natural phononomum (heck) eg. they would look accross the ocean and say 'big sharks eat little sharks', or something equelly obscure.

That is the haka, it is the Maori war dance. They do it to intimidate their enemies, (like before a rugby match lol), there are plenty of the "hula" type dances too.

I think the pm one is just for us here at major geeks to each other. You go to user cp at the top, edit options, scroll down on the right side and you see a thing for private messaging and enable that.
