I have a Pixo AT700S 17'' LCD monitor that I got a while ago and it's been working great, but every time I change resolution (like during bootup or playing a full-screen game), the monitor must "Auto Tune" or else the screen will be off center.

Do all LCD monitors do this or is it just a few? And is there some way for the computer to "remember" the settings for each resolution?

all lcd monitors "autotune" when in analog mode. not all video cards output the analog information the same, which is why on CRTs you need to adjust the horizontal, vertical, any quadrilateral, squigglies, moire, etc for each resolution and each refresh rate and each video card. lcd's just do it for you automatically, so you don't have to yourself. just be happy it's doing it:)

the only time an LCD won't do it is when it's in DVI or digital mode. when the video card outputs the video in digital (to the lcd), the information conforms to a set standard (by pixel) so that no adjustment or translation is needed. if your monitor and video card supports DVI, i highly recommend you use DVI as that will add to the clarity of the monitor.

Thanks for the info, it's very helpful. :)

My monitor has a slot labeled DVI on the back, but there's a plastic cutaway piece blocking it, so I don't think it supports it. And my video card is an old Hercules Kyro2 64mb one with only the regular monitor plug, so I don't think DVI is there. But this is something to consider for my next system.

Try pulling off the blanker. I've found that manufacturers somtimes blank out plugs to prevent confusing people.

But it wont be any use because you dont ahve DVI on your graphics card. DVI is a lot better quality than VGA, so you definatley want to make sure you get DVI with your next upgrade.

I've been meaning to upgrade my video card for some time. I really want to get Doom 3 but as is now, I have no chance at running it. Video card is next on the list of upgrades though.
