    Hi

I have a pretty annoying problem. I don't really know how to explain this. But, at certain brightnesses, or color combinations, or if im playing a game. I get a weird screen flicker. Not tearing, not flicker on and off.

It looks like...its having trouble keeping brightness/gamma/contrast correctly and is freaking out. I have a HPS2031 20" LCD display. and a Nvidia GTX260. I have no idea why it is doing this...I even took the monitor back to Staples and even the new one does it. Also my dad's new monitor does it too. But Why the heck is this happening..? I was using a 19" not 3 weeks ago and that had no flickering...

    Any help please?

First instinct is that your refresh rate, is set to a frequency (refresh rate) the monitor doesn't support.

However, without out it "on the bench" in front of me, that is a shot in the dark...

the Max refresh rate is 60hz. At a max resolution of 1600x900. I wish i could explain in better detail whats happening. Imagine, looking at a very dark grey image in fullscreen. If you look at it and pay attention, you can see what looks like flickers of a brighter grey, but its faded...like just enough to be noticable.

Have you checked drivers, etc, under Device Manager?

    Greetings, disk00.

    Couple of quick thoughts:

    1. Could be power supply or mains supply ripple - are you plugged into any type of power conditioning that might not be working correctly?

    2. I use blank screensavers, and the LCDs in my shop exhibit roughly the same behavior as yours when it's very cold - once the heat is on, the little gray ghosts eventually quit flitting across the screen.

Like where i plug it in? It does it no matter what I do. I even tried another LCD with a higher refresh rate than my current one. And it still does it. I upgraded my video card drivers but that didnt do anything really. I have tried taking the card out, and using the onboard adapter. But it still does it.

The 2 monitors i had . The first one i returned to get this current one. They both did it, fresh out of the box. I guess i can live with it, if i HAVE to. But its quite anoying to see it durring dark areas on videos/movies/games or even on my desktop constantly.
