lcd monitor

Hey all I'm trying to find a red lcd 19 inch or better for my mom her pc (my old one ) should have no problems supporting it. running xp with a 3.4 gig intel and a 6600gt pci-e. Cant find em anywhere but it may just be me looking in the wrong place. Any help would be appreciated. Thx

 

why red? LCDs come in the usually variety of grey/silver/black, never seen really a full "red" LCD.

 

If you feel up to it, could buy a black one then take in apart and spray paint it red.

Careful with those panels, most of them are 20ms!

 

Appreciate the responses, Red is what my mom wants to match her pc, red case, red wireless k/b and mouse, etc.... i put my old 3.4 gig intel setup in a new red case. Figured she gets cold easy and the intel chip would keep her warm plz keep me posted if anyone does find one though those planars arent available for sale yet

 

You might just have to special order one. The red colored LCD monitors are pretty rare/hard to find. Best bet is to A) buy one and paint it, or B)possibly special order it/ask the store if they can get it in that color.

Red is the most expensive color in the market to special order / order just FYI, thats why most colors used is black/white. Red requires ussually 3 different coats/color combinations to get the correct color in, vs 1 white coat, or 1 black coat. Did you ever consider that black/silver looks good with any color? Style and color matching is about creativity, not just "painting the town red" so to say .

 

You're really limiting yourself by stipulating red.

As stated, silver or silver/black would go with anything.

As far as painting, it's not that simple.

You would have to find a paint that sticks to the surface of the panel, but without damaging or affecting the material and one that doesn't peel off or bubble after a few months.

I wouldn't even bother.


I have a beige CRT with a silver/black tower and it looks great.

 

I'm not overly worried how mine looks as my case is black and yellow but my mom just wants what she wants. She's kinda hard headed . Trying to soften her up to get a black one if not then special order it is . I'll stick with my 19 crt

I can't believe you guys are serious.

I would never paint a new CRT or LCD monitor, and it would never look as good as a manufactured unit. (especially a CRT)

 

I try and humor my mom. She suffers from coldaeutacaria (sp?) She's allergic to cold so in winter all she has is the computer so if it's red she wants it's red she gets (somehow)

 

I suffer from NoMoneyItis. I'm allergic to destroying valuable items as I have no money.

On a serious note, each to their own, but I couldn't bring myself around to paint a new (or even used) monitor.

If you are going to do it, at least use the proper paint so it doesn't peel or bubble.

Anyway, your mother is way ahead of mine. My mum is still trying to figure out where the Start button is.
