lcd screen flicker???

    I have a lcd 19" pc monitor/tv/dvd combo a friend gave to me, its a model no. soniq QV191LC . The screen at all times flickers , it is like the screen turns off and on at 100 times in a millisecond if you know what i mean? anyway does anyone know what causing is this and if there is a possible solution ? thanks....

    it is not the soniq power supply , it is a same voltage power adapter

    also the power adapter gets real hot and when i connect it to the lcd screen it sparks when i connect it? what is this indicating?
