when i go to sign into my gmail i get a message first something like.. you are about to enter an encrypted page. information on this page can not be read by a third party. then after i ented my login and password as it is loading i get this message "you are about to leave an encrypted page. information you send or receive from now on can easily be read by a third party"
i imagine that is not a good thing when your in your own email right?
is this normal, how do i get this to stop?

their is an option to not show this message again on the poup box, its more of a warning to alert you that your on an encrypted page.

one other thing to check if its ticked, if you use IE, is to goto Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and tick "do not save encrypted pages to disk" > Apply

i use firefox as my browser.

i clicked on the box to not have this message appear again, but that doesnt mean its not still happening right
when it says this.. "information you send or receive from now on can easily be read by a third party" i was just wondering if that means that someone else on another computer can be reading my email at the same time i am

what the crux of the message is alerting you to is that say your on your Banking site and its encrypting data sent back and forth ( highlighted by the padlock icon with SSL128bit and above ) once you have finished with the encrypted page and that message pops up then yes it is possible someone could read or capture data as its not encrypted from that/this point on, which is why you need to do as much as possible to protect yourself... keep the OS, Antivirus, Antispyware upto date.

as for email.... not really but its possible if your infected with a trojan/keylogger/screencapture app etc

i dont do any type of banking or anything like that online. i dont even have anything that gives any type of personal information about me. i just dont want anyone else to be reading my email.

as when your are signing into your emails, the pages are encrypted ( is this online mail by any chance? *only curious* ) so you are as safe from anyone reading your emails as you can be.

this only means that IF you left the encrypted page and you were still sending emails their would be a possability that they could be read, but as that message only generally pops up as you leave or have finished with an encrypted page ( in your case emails ) then I highly doubt they would be able to be read.

TBH its a good thing if your worried about data security online that you have a message like that as it alerts you to when your safe* and when its not so safe^

    *enter encrypted pages
    ^left encrypted pages

when i first go to my email (gmail account online) i get the message telling me i am entering an encrypted page. but then when first sign onto my email page with my username/password i get the message pop up informing me i am leaving an ecrypted page any information can be read by a third party, so its saying im leaving an ecrypted page before i even get to read my email.
    what is TBH?

    TBH = To Be Honest

Your user and password is being sent via encrypted data transfer so that cannot ( or will be harder to intercept ) be captured, Gmail is to a point scanned by Google anyways, hence the advertising.... so if your worried about security then use a ISPs email service rather than online mail.

Dont get too hung up on security if you are then stay off the net or dont send potentially sensitive emails, IF your keeping your PC secure using all methods of AntiVirus and AntiSpyware ( please read the guides in the spyware part of the forum ) then you are as protected as your going to be.

If you do want to send potentially sensitive materials or data through email then zip up a word doc and password it then attach it to an email.

i never noticed this before, but i recently clicked the box to alert me whenever i submit anything thats not encrypted.. but now i get that message box popping up everytime i send anything on any webpage such as this forum here, other forums, or just doing a regular search on yahoo or google.
it will say "the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party. are you sure you want to send this information?"
is there some way to have this stop, to get it to be an encrypted page, or is this all normal? i might not have noticed it before because i never clicked on alert me when this is being done.. but is it normal for a page to not be encrypred even for a search engine like yahoo/google?

    something else i did.
i used CCleaner and in doing that i would erase whatever keeps me logged in to sites like this so i had to enter my username and password for this site. in just doing that and hitting enter i had that same message pop up then too. but in entering the password it enters with these "***" so the password cant be known by someone else right?

The message is normal and by design, just a bit anoying if you have it set to alert you each time, yes very normal for some pages to be encrypted and some not, depends on the site and what information is needed/entered.

CCleaner and part of its cleaning process is to delete your cookies, cookies are what hold things like your User/Password for websites/fourms etc, if you dont what them to be deleted enter the Options menu of CCleaner and click cookies then you are given the option to protect/save certain cookies.

Yes on the ******** also saves someone watching over your shoulder remembering your password.
