Leaving Windows XP

    Like a great number of people, I'm still running Windows XP on my desktop computer. And knowing that Microsoft is about to stop supporting XP which, in essence, forces me to buy a new computer or at least upgrade away from an OS that I really like, I have some decisions to make. I probably will go to Windows 8 simply because it may a long time before I'm forced to do this again although I may leave Microsoft entirely.....I haven't decided yet.
    My question is this. Does anyone know of a free program or application I can download that will scan my computer and tell me exactly what I can or can't take with me to Windows 8?
