Left/Right or ?

Having performed the prerequiset searches via normal search engines, I still have not found out how to use the keyboard to elicit a "right click", as coming from the laptop "right click" button, normal responce. (See the attached GIF)

My old ACER Win 7 x64 laptop is old but still vital, like me!! (Comic relief: had to swap left for right pad buttons 'cause the left one was failing)

I've been using the "left" as the MENU button. It's a pain, but OK for my budget! ~HA!~

Major Question: What, if any, is the alternate M$ keyboard input for the normal "right click" menu? If I lose the ability to use the laptop pad's left/right input, I'm up shitte creeke without a paddle.

Thank you for your help, in advance. I know that you are deluged with requests.

You're right what will you do? If only they invented the mouse and made it USB, somehow I think that would save you from that dredged creek. Alas all is lost:cry
Wait, a laptop? Where could you use such a mouse? maybe if they made a wireless touchpad? Oh these lofty ideas.

Also you can download a macro program and assign keys functions, might try that.

You could also replace the touchpad and buttons.

Go to the computer manufacturer's support site and download the Service Manual. Print it out and have it in front of you when you're working on the laptop.

Then go to ebay and find the touchpad and buttons for your make and model of laptop and swap them in. You should have a FULLY functional touchpad and buttons thereafter.

As foogoo stated, you could get a USB mouse as well. I have my touchpad and pointer stick disabled (but they still work) on my Dell laptop because I have a USB optical mouse attached.

Hi, not a 100% sure I understand you, but your trying to key bind the left click function?
but like the other guy was saying, I've used a third party program to keybind before in gaming. But, its called Autohotkey. Pretty sure you can bind all your mouse buttons to a keybind. Other than that maybe you can download a new driver for the laptops touch pad? or maybe already missed it in the program files.. doubtful but hey!

Also a quick google search brought up..

But not sure how helpful that is.
    Good Luck though!

    Cheers!

Ignore this post. Wrong answer. I assumed the keyboard was the problem instead of the touchpad.

The solution was SO simple: To the right of the space bar there is the ALT Gr key and this non-descript key. Well, the non-descript key shows the right-click menu. How silly of me to have not attempted THAT prior to posting on MajorGeeks Forum.

Also, it is disconcerting that people will post answers to MajorGeeks without haveing fully READ and understood the question, at hand!

This is interesting. To the right of the spacebar on my laptop is an Alt key, a Ctrl key, a non-functional keyboard space retainer, the Up Arrow key and another non-functional keyboard space retainer. But, out of curiosity, why couldn't you use the right click function of a mouse? Are all of your USB ports occupied by other devices?

I have a laptop and use it in a limited-space environment. A separate mouse (USB or IR) would not be usable. Appearently, there are different keyboards available to manufacturers. Mine has this key available to me. Wonderful!!

You could use a trackball mouse, one where the mouse stays still and you rotate a ball with your thumb, just a suggestion. I use one with a laptop when I'm lounging around ;)

Your AltGr key is unusual in that it doesn't replicate a right click on any of the computers here. I'm pleased you've mentioned it though as I've just discovered I can use it with the 4 key to generate a Euro symbol instead of 4 or $ (UK keyboard)

Apparently, the space the trackball "stand" would occupy can't be accommodated either. I use my mouse in as much space (4" x 6") that a trackball would occupy.
