do windows allow you to download their O/S?

as you are really paying for the serial key..

    Bit of a grey area....

I don't know if Microsoft will allow you to. (Without a MSDN subscription) But, they will sell you a CD for a minimal charge....

You can legally re-install with your license, of course, but getting media......?

Upon further investigation, I've found you cannot legally download XP.

Doesnt matter. Retail is not MSDN, is not OEM.

Retails keys only work on retail copies and so forth.
