i have recently become readdicted to legos (im 28 now)
and wondered if there were other lego geeks out there?

they are doing some amazing things with them these days!
am i crazy or are they better than ever!

(wanted to put a poll with this but not sure how)

I'm 26 and can't stand the newer lego sets. I was a lego maniac when I was a kid and had over 50 lego sets. Back then they were more basic blocks to play with. I don't like how lego sets these days come in all these huge pieces. It takes away from the creativity of building something cool out of little blocks.

Better than ever? No. Not to me.

What the? matt.chugg's link was different before.

When I clicked on his link it sent me to some guy having computer problems where you could download 2 text files.

    He must have changed it.

I don't like Bionicle at all. The virtual lego builder is pretty cool. I have to admit that.

I rather buy tools and build stuff out of wood and metal or ofcourse electronic goods :) ,theres just so many other cool hobbies now were adults:) I think I might be able to bring myself to build a model plane or something but only if it could fly

Always wanted a maccano set though,I'd only build something that did something though

    check this out

I loved playing with Legos when I was younger, when it didn't come out in Sagas, like the SWAT team one, but it was good when you could buy containers of just the basic blocks and build whatever you wanted to. I am currently working on a lego castle actually. It's no where near done yet.

My brother still has a massive bucket of it somewhere,he bought one of the castles with cannons,he enjoyed building the castles I enjoyed firing the cannons at it,they were cool!

I wonder how many times you can stick lego toegther before it wont stick:confused: :)

My legos always lasted a couple years before they wouldn't stick anymore.

me and my brother used to each build a fortress then hide guys in them, then roll baseballs at each others buiding trying to knock down the others lego men....and destroy the others fort.
never had a problem with them not sticking togeather....tho with that abuse they probably disintegrated b4 they wouldnt stick anymore

I used to like Legos, but I was more of a constructs fan.
You could build bigger, crazier stuff.

I have enjoyed a few lego video games that have come out. Haven't played the star wars though. The racing games were fun.

And that White Stripes video was awesome. Can you imagine the time it would take if that wasn't animated and someone actually did stop motion?

    Crazy..

I used to like Legos (and Meccano) when I was a kid in the sixties. Back then, the special piece sets were ones containing windows and wheels and such, and some special space ship sets.

There is some hefty containers of now ancient Lego sitting about my place somewhere. I saved them for my son to use. Now he aint a kid anymore, either.

Does playing the game Lego Star Wars count? LoL! :p

I still play with Lego, I have a room dedicated to it. every week or two I will buy more. I aim at the mech, but space and starwars are my fave. In that room there is a wall 16 feet long 8 feey tall all lego , with stairs leading up to a Lego framed door that leads to jiprock...or my crazy world, I'll have to post a pic ! there are trolleys that go from one town to another(i callem towns) and a very close CN tower clone in the middle...all i can explane..

When I was younger I had an entire Lego town in my basement. Roads, cars, a store, police dept, gas station, race track, traffic lights, etc.

I loved those things when I was younger

Lego of the mid to late 80's was the best time for lego. I've got all the castles and pirate ships from that era. I'll never give those away.

I recently stumbled upon a website that featured reconstructions of some of Escher's impossible structures. They can't be that impossible because they were recreated with Legos!

I don't have the link here at home, I have at school. If anyone is really interested I can post them tomorrow.

HECK YEA! i used to LOVE legos! I was really into the Insectiods and the Aquanauts (i think thats what they were called?) Those alien guys with the mechs were pretty sweet too...

gotta love the jungle ones, same for the pirates. I love those secret doors and traps they had! One year my parents got me the Mindstorms (the one with the programmable computer) set which i never really got into...now that my attention span is better i think i may just pull it outta the closet :D

I take out my lego sets once a year. I collect town and beach themes: There are usually two towns and a beach, spanning from two rooms and a long hallway, via electric railway. There are police and fire stations but I'm still waiting for a full hospital set.

When I was a kid legos were my favourite toys, but my parents didn't buy any; they were all from my cousin who lived in Denmark. The best pieces were transparent blocks, a few wheels and some roof pieces - but we never had enough for a whole roof. The pieces still stick but they are not compatible with the new ones, the dimensions of the nobbly pieces are different. :( We had a naming system for each type of piece, like "flat 2", do you have any names for them? I was into designing houses, including the furniture (with basic blocks of course). LOL Nowadays I deal with real ones...

@Colonel angus The robin hood treehouse:) that was one of the ones my brother had, also the big grey castle is that what the castle on the right is made from:confused: ,I remember the grass was made into three sections one one and two square ones, wed empty the bucket on the floor and the first thing we all did was fight for the flat grass peices and then grab as many wall sections as we could and then fight for the armour peices to put on our knights 'OOO' the helmets with the visor,THE BLACK NIGHT haha lol :D

The treehouse looks like it built to the instructions exactly as I remember it does it open out I cant remember? And the cannons with the round cannon balls :D we didnt have the pirate ship I remember him buying a couple of small cannon packs for about £3 those cannon ball rounds became a rarity after while I think most of them ended up in the vaccum along with the feathers from the caps

    Seriously thanks for the memories:)

Sorry greenhorn, I don't have a camera - they all break when I get even near them. lol Someone said today at plastering workshop that I might have too much electricity in my body, which shorts things... Don't tell that to my computer, I wouldn't know what to do if it got a wiff... :p

I use MS Paint to shrink the size of the pictures before I load them up to MajorGeeks.

@ Rikky - Are you asking if the Robin Hood tree and the Castle are the same set? The Robin Hood tree and the Castle were two differnt sets. I think the caste in the picture was the first castle that lego made... ... well in the the 80's anyway. I had two knights with the visor helmets and the armour. They came with horses that had the knights crest drapped over them. They were cool. I got the lego ships when the cannons came with the cannon balls you could fire. My friends got cannons that couldn't fire and they were jealous that I had firing cannons.:D I don't know why they stopped making the cannons with the pull-back firing mechanizm?

I should set up my lego monorail set and really blow your minds!:D I remember it cost over $200 to buy it and I begged my parents to get it for me for Christmas one year. I can't believe they actually paid that much on a present for me. Do you guys remember the lego monorail set? It was space lego set. It came with a cardboard cut out of some moon scenary that you put behind it after you set it up. It was so awesome.

rub it in now why dont you
    :)
i remember getting the cannons that fire in the early pirate sets, and i vaguely remember complaining to mom and dad about the new ones not fireing and them saying somthing about some idiot shooting himself in the eye with one and trying to sue lego (probably won (the fools always seem to))
