Recently purchased Lenovo Ideacentre 310S-08ASR randomly freezes requiring forced shutdown from switch. It has also started resetting, sometimes from blue screen and sometimes just a raw restart. I updated all drivers using Driver Easy free version, except the display driver which I updated from AMD because Driver Easy indicated a 5-hour download. We are about ready to chuck this thing out the window. Is there a solution or should we just take it back?

    Return it.

I second Eldon's suggestion - before something happens that voids the warranty.

What would you suggest as an alternative machine, similar price range? We don't need anything super powered nor massive storage. It's mainly used for internet access and WordPerfect 11 (required for specific purpose).

I'm curious. Was WP 11 working on that Lenovo with Windows 10? Last I checked, WP 11 would not even work in Windows 7.

What is your budget? Can you get a refund for that machine? You might be stuck with a like replacement.

WP11 works just fine in Win 7, been running it for years. Last good Win 7 machine crashed last week (HDD failing, wouldn't recognize replacement) so ordered the Lenovo. Have an HP running W10 with WP11 in W7 compatability mode. Also running the same way on the Lenovo. The only trouble is unavailability of help files due to expired Windows support. Looking at a similar HP refurb to the one we have. The Lenovo is returnable through April 29.
Thanks for the quick response. I might have another question regarding a Dell box, but I'll save that for another thread.

Thanks for the report on WP11 with W10.

I personally would prefer an HP or Dell (or Acer) over Lenovo. Lenovo makes decent computers, I just don't trust Lenovo, the company. They have a long, sordid history of repeatedly installing malware on their computers. :(
