    Hello all.

I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 with a faulty DVD drive. Does anyone know where I can find a list of compatible DVD drives? The Lenovo website only lists its monstrously expensive own-brand drives..

Are all slimline drives the same size and shape, compatibility etc?

Thanks for any advice on this.

You may need to run and post an everest report so they can see exactly what is in you computer. Once they have that info someone should be able to assist you.

I looked at the report and according to your specs the biggest problem you are going to have is finding one that fits your computer, which I looked at Newegg.com and they have slim drives varying in price all or most cheaper than Lenovo. You are running xp pro so I don't see a capability issue with drivers.
check back on this thread and see if someone else may spot something that I didn't see as to why Lenovo wants to charge those high rates for one of their cd/dvd burners for your laptop.
Also you may want to give Newegg customer support a call before you order one (or whoever you choose to buy one from) to make sure there isn't something Lenovo built in so other drives wouldn't fit.

Good luck, post back and update us on what happened....

    Thankyou again for your help.

how could you tell that i might have trouble with sizes? are there some measurement or fittings that i could search for on newegg or other websites?

i just need to know what to search for, form factor or measurements.. you seem to indicate that not all 'slimline' drives are the same size or fitment.

Is there something i can search for to find a drive that is the right size?

    thanks again!
