I have a Lenovo G585 laptop and since the new Windows 8.1 update was made available, I have tried downloading it and installing it 3 times... EVERY TIME it is finished installing, I lose the ability to adjust the screen brightness. What I mean by this is that when I press the screen brightness hotkeys, the brightness bar moves up and down, but the actual brightness of the screen stays the same. In fact there is nothing I can do at all, even in my computers settings, to adjust the brightness.http://dailydigitaldeals.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/11/33/buy.gif
Another thing that happens EVERY TIME is that I get a window that pops up on startup of my computer that says "Unable to start the Dolby audio driver. Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problems persist." But when I do go and reinstall the driver, the message stops popping up, but I lose my volume, and am unable to hear anything until I totally refresh my computer and start completely from scratch..
It seems like all Lenovo users are having problems, PLEASE HELP FIX!!!!!!!!

hey momokie, had the same kind of problems with my hp Compaq 6710b, I found Drive Detective down loaded the check software found many outdated and drivers not found, paid for the software and let it do it's thing, haven't had a problem since.
    hope that this helps

Personally, I would not suggest paying for a driver utility. If you feel the need for something like that there are free ones out there. Also, there is a great adage out there 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it." That's a good one for drivers. There is no need to update a driver if it's working perfectly.

Please see this article on the Lenovo site: http://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/windows8-1/upgrade/ideapad/index_en.html

in most cases i'd agree with LauraR, however I found this paid utility, which works on any computer that you have, this is the best I've found and it fixed multiple problems including 3 that hp had no info on. Soooo thanks for your opinion it just doesn't happen to be mine. I do believe if it ain't broke don't fix it, in my case IT was Broke.

Which is fine, but is not necessarily the first course of action to give to someone asking about two drivers without doing a bit of research on the issue. As noted in my link, the brightness issue will not be fixed by installing a paid driver utility.
