in bios it doesn't allow the USB thumb drive to be boot up option yet when it boots up you hit enter and then allows a temp bootup option, but weirder ,sometimes it will see thumb drive as option temporarily ,but only for me ,2 out of 20 tries

i wonder why
-im sick of computers,they almost seem demonic

ill use a google netbook

i did get win 10 on the old drive at last, but i just wonder why

its so fickle

 

The change in boot options started about 10 years ago when there was industry-wide agreement to upgrade the original BIOS/MBR system, the system that controls how your computer gets configured at start up, to a much more sophisticated system called UEFI/GPT. In the interests of safety the UEFI system won't permit booting a system from an unknown source, such as a USB thumb drive, until defined conditions have been met. One result was that users purchasing new style computers often found that they couldn't continue with many of their previous boot-time practices and needed to make significant changes. OTOH ppl with older systems unaffected by these changes have happily continued using their ageing machines. It's nothing to do with Windows itself, it's an industry wide change to computer hardware and firmware but fickle it ain't.

 

at first i had two thumb drives in and forgot which one had Linux on it ..it showed the two options -i clicked the wrong one,,but those options didnt appear again, just later when i had win 10 in..i gave in to win 10 and ill stay with that
