Lenovo Thinkcentre Desktop Lost Microsoft Connection

I have a ThinkCentre M710s desktop. I have always used my microsoft account to boot up. Several days ago I changed boot up to my local account I have lost my local account password.

Attempts to boot into BIOS result in Lenovo BIOS which has no option to change boot up to USB,

Since you changed over to a local account there is no way to recover your password. Think hard. If you can't remember it you'll have to remove the hard drive, hook it to a working PC, copy over any files you haven't backed up, reformat the drive then do a fresh install of Windows 10. The increased level of security in Windows 8/8.1/10 makes password hacking basically impossible.

If you do a "forgot password" trying to login to your MS Account on another PC it won't give you the old password. It will make you create a new one which will be useless trying to get in using the old password on a local account.

If you have to reformat, download the latest Windows install ISO on a USB drive from Microsoft's website. If you were running Windows 8/8.1, don't worry. Although Microsoft doesn't advertise this, my recent experience has been that Windows 10 will automatically activate itself as genuine on an 8/8.1 PC that has been wiped out and reinstalled with Windows 10. Just be sure you install the same version you had (Home, Pro, etc.) or you'll have to buy a new license.

A bright spot in the newest version of Windows 10 (v. 1809) is that, if you set up a local account with a password, you'll be forced to set up three challenge questions (such as "What street did you grow up on?") that allow you to reset your password if you forget it.
