First off apologies if i've put this in the wrong forum.

I bought a Lenovo Z585 and installed it yesterday. Today having transferred over all my files from my old laptop that I wanted to keep, it now does not boot up. On the normal boot screen it will only show the Lenovo logo or the following:

    preparing automatic repair
    diagnosing your pc
checking disk for errors. this may take upto an hour

    'windows couldn't load correctly.

system restore can try to restore your pc to an earlier point in time when it worked correctly.
This repair will not change personal data, but it might remove some apps that were installed recently.
    You cannot undo this process'

It then gives you the option of restore or cancel

nothing happens after choosing either other than taking you back to the Lenovo logo.

Any help would be great as the number the company have provided to speak to someone doesn't open again till tomorrow morning.

Can you explain what you mean by 'installed it yesterday'? Installed what?

Sorry just meant I had started it up not installed it.

Just transferring personal files cannot cause a boot failure. Are you certain that that is all you did? If so I would advocate not trying anything else - just return it.

EDIT - can you explain exactly what 'all my files' means - was it anything other than the 'My' folders?

Hi, sorry I probably should have went more into it and wasn't sure if it could have been a quick fix. I transferred over family photos and videos. I also downloaded a few programs that I had on my previous computer (AVG, firefox and itunes)

If it was in fact only AVG, FF and iTunes, and you downloaded the latest versions of each then that should not cause problems. If you don't want to return it then your other option is to use your recovery disk or partition and set it back to factory condition and start again.

I spoke to someone at Lenovo earlier today who said there was known issues with windows 8 and he wld take me through a remote access on my other pc and send required files that I could transfer over to the other pc that would sort out the software problem. However he said it would cost £130 and would cover me for a year. Told him I wouldn't be paying that as it was just brand new out the box yesterday and went back to the people who I bought it off of however they have told me to cntact another lenovo desk which are closed until tomorrow, so hopefully I can get it sorted through them or will need to return it. Thanks anyway

Good luck with it then - just don't be tempted to do anything that might give them an excuse not to replace it. Using your recovery disk/partition would be OK though.

Cheers. Had Desktop PC's / Laptop's for over 16 years and never had this problem?! Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
