Lexmark 2300 all-in-one print quality

Hello;

A friend recently gave me her Lexmark 2300 series all-in-one. It prints great...except that everything comes out very faint, as if it's always on "draft" setting, even if I set it to "photo" or "best" quality. I've tried ALL the troubleshooting steps: cleaning, aligning, new cartridge, adjusting settings...still very light quality. Is this just the way this type of printer works, or is something amiss? My old HP Deskjet prints nice 'n dark, so I don't think it's a computer issue...

I'm on a desktop system, XP Pro, 2.41 GHz, 1 gig of RAM, everything peachy as far as I know.

Any thoughts?

Sorry about the delay in replying to this; I found it halfway down the fourth page, still waiting for an answer...

This problem can be caused by an outdated (or corrupted) driver, so I checked the Lexmark website:

it seems that the Lexmark 2310, 2330, and 2350 all-in-one printers ALL use the same driver, which you can download for WinXP Pro here:

http://www.downloaddelivery.com/srfilecache/cjb2300EN.exe

That driver is a whopping 35MB, so expect a fairly long download time, unless you're using broadband...

DO NOT FORGET to UNINSTALL the OLD driver, then REBOOT your system BEFORE you try to install the new Lexmark driver.
