I had Libreoffice in my computer, HP laptop win 8.1, and it was running great. Then the update icon pops up so I DL the update and run it. Well it hags up, I let it chug for over 20-minutes, and I stop it. Now I have no Libreoffice at all and cannot get the new version to install. I've rebooted, shut down AVG & Malwarebytes, tried an older version of Libreoffice, and nothing. Libreoffice help is all but useless. I don't get it, I had no trouble before. Any ideas?

I'll give it a shot...I thought Libreoffice was great.

That did nothing, didn't show the program. Like I said, I ran the update and it removed the old program apparently but couldn't install the new one...

Haven't tried it but I'll give that a shot. This is ridiculous...

That was quick and easy and it could find the program. I may have to try a system refresh.

OK, I got it! It did work and here’s what I did.

I tried installing and it couldn’t find the program so I was SOL. Then I tried uninstalling JIC there was any residual files left over that were stopping me.

I ran the uninstall, selected the “not listed” option. Then it asked me for the program's product code as it says on MS’s page (linked in post #6 above). It states “The troubleshooter provides steps for you to follow. If a program isn't listed in the uninstall options, you'll be asked for that program's product code. To access the code, you'll need a tool for reading MSI files—which is typically available to IT professionals. You'll find the product code in the property table of the MSI file.” So I thought, just for the helluva it, to click on the programs properties. Under “details” I saw the revision number that looked a lot like the product code example the fix program was showing me. I copied and pasted that in and BINGO! It worked.

Thank you all, especially you Replicator. I now have my Libreoffice back and know how to correct the problem in the future, should it arise again.
