    Hello All,

I have been given an Packard bell ixtreme Gold S 1919 media centre PC, all is well untill i turn it on.
The lights come on, fans spin, but no Post beep and no display.
I has been given another motherboard 'same as original' ( Gigabyte GA-8i945PM-RH) and a brand new sealed in box processor ( Intel VT E3300 LGA775 S-spec).

When I fitted the replacement motherboard and new processor, i still get the same result.
I have downloaded the user manual from the Packard Bell website, but am unable to find out if this processor is compatible with the motherboard.

    Can any one help?
Also any suggestions on getting this running again. If you need more info please ask.

could you post the complete model number? I'm looking at packard bell's page, but the models don't match with what you posted.

also, looking at gigabyte's page for a similar model, it doesn't support anything above a P4D
so, i'm not sure if your's will. But according to intel's site about the 945P chipset

reading up on specs for the x600 pro, it's recommended is 300w. (350 if you have other things going as well)

what do you have on the front panel that requires power?

On the current power supply there is a small Purple connector for a touch sensor buttons. On the front pannel is, USB, ports, Audio out/In Firewire and an IR pannel.

Will get the new power supply and see how it goes.

I have installed a 530W power supply with the replacement motherboard and the new processor and nothing, I swapped to the old processor and bingo!!! we are up and running.

    Thanks for the help.
My next question is: where sells pentium D chips? and is it worth upgradeing the RAM and processor and new HDD or buying a new PC?
