lightscribe

I've got a HP laptop with a lightscribe enabled cd/dvd burner but when i go into the lightscribe control panel in the taskbar it says "no lightscribe devices found"
its definately a lightscribe drive as it has the symbol on the dvd drive, any ideas??

running windows vista
have downloaded the latest lightscribe system software
and i have the software which came with the laptop, roxio

 

How about the latest firmware updates for the drive?

 

i went to device manager and right click update driver software, is that the best way to do it? the driver software is up to date.

also tried to stop and start the lightscribe service, still no luck.

 

Firmware is an update to the hardware device itself. You need to be checking the manufacturer website. Its not a software driver.

 

all it says in device manager is that its a slimtype DVD A DS8AZH ATA device

as if its a generic brand? driver date is june 2006, i'm trying to find firmware updates

When its a laptop, you check with the OEM that built/assembled it.

 

yeah i did a HP update on my laptop couldnt find any updates, went to the website, couldnt find any firmware upgrades for the drive, downloaded the lightscribe host software off the HP site for my model notebook and installed that, still not detecting it
