limewire 4.10 has anyone tried it

im currently using limewire 4.9.30 i upgraded last time there was an upgrade

but i wanted a little info on 4.10 before i decide to upgrade again

so i was wondering does anyone have this version yet and if you do can you tell me about it

is it easy to use oh and is it still completly free ect

 

Be extremely careful when using any P2P programs as they are known to contain malware. I wouldn't recommend any to be honest but that's your decision. I recommend something like Bit Torrent or something, a little safer still a threat if used unwisely.

 

limewire is known for being spyware/malware free, its even reviewed on cnet.com or download.com (same thing basically). The new version contains a license warning before you download something about u need to have permission or sumthin but u can ignore it if u want to

 

All P2P networks contain malware, depending on how you use it depends whether you get the infections or not. Use it wisely and you will be ok, but use it in inappropriately and that's where trouble begins.

Either way IMO they are all illegal because you can download software/music and everything for free.

No, it's not illegal to talk about the program but it is against our policy to discuss downloaded items or request help downloading illegal items.

It's no biggie, I downloaded this program and played around with it. I see no obvious threats, however like I said all P2P networks have malware so if you use this, search and download wisely.

i use limewire 4.10. i've been unsing limewire for over a year now and have had no problems with it. i don't use the free version though i pay for the pro version. but it works great for me. i have tried BitTorrent but i can't ever seem to get it to work.

 

yeah same here, whenever i try to dl a torrent, it goes at like 1 or 2 kbps.....

 

Some versions of LimeWire (free) do contain Spyware and Adware.

Even if you get a version that doesn't, you are downloading from other peoples computers, so the risk of infection is always there regardless.

 

does 4.10 have spyware or adware i sure dont want that mess

Like I said, I downloaded and played around with it and I didnt see anything so it should be ok if you search/download wisely.

 

so 4.10.5 has spyware i havnt upgraded yet and i wont if limewire has spyware now

The program itself does NOT have malware in it, the P2P NETWORK does. There is a difference, Limewire is a P2P application, where you download is the P2P network, this is where the malware is.

Some applications package ad-ware and some spyware but this version does not. Kazaa and many others do package things into there installer but Limewire doesnt.

 

Well the program itself does not have spyware as i have the latest version on my pc. It is a neat little program but as bj said if you are not using your head when you download you can get somthing. Right now your version and mine do not have spyware. The latest verion is 4.1.37. To protect the system from the baddies of the internet i use peergaurdian when running limewire. So I would upgrade but use your head when downloading.

yes sir it does thank you i just upgraded to 4.10.5

oh and ever time i download a song or a show i always run a virus check before i open it just to be totally sure theres no viruses to infect my laptop

 

Some versions are reported to contain Spyware in the program itself.

I think it depends on where you download it from, but I wouldn't take the risk.

If you want to use P2P, why not use something that doesn't have that crap, like Shareazza or Bit Torrent for example?

I would normally suggest you download from here, as files are tested first.

However, only Limewire for Mac OS is available. (at least that I could find)

That probably says it all.

 

Nah if you use the latest version they took the limeshop problem out and it does not have it at all now.
