limewire hell!

ok im pretty sure this is an old issue and probably has been discussed many times, in that case if someone could give me a link to a topic on this? cause ive been searching these forums manually for over an hour and i cant find it. heres my prob...

Control Alt Delete function is not working at all. This happened after i installed a typing tutor program from a zipped folder. i scanned the folder with AVG before unzipping and again before opening it, and it came out clean. But after opening it and installing the program within the folder it said the program was outdated and i would have to download it from the main site. ok thats fine, but immediately after that i find that limewire has been installed on my computer, and immediately begins to run. I exit out of that program and uninstall it, which of course doesnt work and it immediately turns itself on again and starts to run. i search for all peices of limewire on my hard drive and manually remove each bit, so now its gone, but when i try to get into the registry it seems now i cant. tried regedit, no luck, the black window comes on for 1 second and nothing else happens. i cant get in.

so now i try to delete that folder for the typing tutor and i cant. it says its being used by another program, but thats impossible cause there are no programs running, and i removed what was in the folder so the folder itself is empty, but i cant delete it from my desktop. everytime i try it says its being used by another program. so thats when i try control alt del, and absolutely nothing happens.

what should i do? should i do a system restore? i know you guys advise against that so i havent done that yet but i dont know what else to do. ive run spybot and it comes out clean. ive run avg and its clean too. obviously they are wrong. ive read your tutorial for hijackthis but i need help with that and will gladly post it but i know im not supposed to. please please help me let me know what i should do or link me to a place that tells me how to fix this.

ok well, i restarted my comp and succeeded in removing the folder, but C alt del still wont work, and when i try the regedit a window comes up saying "the NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction." chosing close or ignore buttons have the same result and that is it just shuts off. and all i wanted to do was improve my typing. sigh..
