Limewire program start-up problems

Having trouble starting limewire after installation. Just updated version, previous worked, but now even after downloading multiple different copies none seem to load. Current version is limewire 4.4.5. No error message or anything pops up nor does task manager recognize that limewire was queued. When trying to do so, I have a modem internet connection and java seems to be active. Any help would be appreciated.

Running:
Dell Inspiron 5150
Windows XP Pro.
512 RAM
Pentium 4
3.06 GHz
32 GB Aval.

My suggestion would be to UNINSTALL everything related to Limewire. Also, search for any leftover files relating to Limewire.

After uninstalling Limewire make sure these directories are removed.


C:\Program Files\LimeWire

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\.limewire

NOTE: You may have to manually delete these folders!


After you have completed this, reboot and reinstall Limewire.

So when you click to open Limewire it does absolutely nothing?

If you have removed everything I previously mentioned and it still doesnt work. Then the only other thing I would suggest is going HERE and check for the latest version of Java.

 

I had the same problem. I finally just went back to the previous version. I rarely use it anyway though.

 

I tried LimeWire once, just to see what the craze about P2P networks was about. I uninstalled it when I found out that it was using my computer as a server, without me even having LimeWire running.
