Limewire won't install to my machine. The intaller downloads OK but wont run the install. I'm running MSwin98SE, anything to do with my system?

What happens is that the download progress window comes up goes through a couple stages the stops and after about 30 secs ctrl/alt/dlt tells me that the installer is not responding.

    Anyone help with this?

Cmon folks, if you have an answer for the bloke, give him an answer, otherwise, save the jokes for when you DO have an answer. This could be very frustrating for a newcomer.

I'm not sure what those fellas are talking about, but I will say this: Are you aware that Limewire and Kazaa will add loads of Malware to your machine and cause problems with other programs on your machine, as well as open you up to viruses and what not? Those are some pesky programs that many people recommend avoiding. Just my .02. Otherwise, hopefully someone can walk you through the install and solve your problem. Take care, and Welcome to Major Geeks.

I could be wrong, the newer limewire has less spyware, adware, etc, but it's your call. I personally stay away from file sharin: It's too dangerous.

The latest LimeWire has NO Spyware or Adware, unlike earlier versions.

Weeian, do you have an Antivirus program active when installing?

If so, try disabling it temporarily.

If that fails, try closing down any background programs that aren't vital as one of them could be causing a conflict.

Thanks guys, I managed to get it installed from an 'offline install' option on the Limewire site.

And yes, it is a pain in the ass when you get useless replies to queries here, if you've nothing to say, then say nothing girls. Thanks to those who tried to help.
