Limewire

i downloaded limewire but it wont open, could a virus be stopping it. it so could any one tell me how to fix it, thanks

 

Personally, the best fix is to get rid of it completely. Perhaps I'm anal, but installing P2P programs is just opening up a can of worms (no pun intended). You run the risk of trojans, spyware, etc, etc.

 

i found limewire to be a dodgy p2p program, it had a seperate stub installer, when i uninstalled it it reinstalled itself, try shareaza or bearshare free and make sure your anti-virus and anti-spyware is up to date

 

Initially, Limewire filled my system with all types of advertising and malware. If you really want to use it, try paying the $$ for their upgrade. It appears to be free from the advertising, and I did not get as much malware. There will be some of the P2P users sending files with viruses, trojans, etc., but if your firewall and AV systems are kept up to snuff, you can stop a lot of stuff before it gets started.

I would not want to get the P2P sharing argument started, but I would like to know if anyone out there has used any of the download sites with success. Also, has anyone found a pay per site that they like?

 

What opererating system is this? Is this at work btw? Home, are you a limited user (power user)?
