    Hi

I have had this issue for a long time and have just put up with it so far.
Since it started I have added another monitor (dual-view), updated from ME to XP, increased RAM from 256 to 1.5GB, upgraded CPU from P4 1.4 to P4 2.8, PSU from 300W to 500W and upgraded to a 7600GS

I only seem to be able to have about 30 browser windows open at one time, after that everything runs really slow and right-click does not work.

This happened with ie 6 and now with ie 7 (can't remember if it was the same with ie 5 or not)

I am now running 2 monitors and the nview title buttons also disappears, but the problem existed prior to me having 2 monitors.

Meminfo shows about 500MB of memory usage and task manager does not open so I'm not sure if I am maxing out my CPU.

Even after forcing IE and everything else to close the computer does not return to normal operation, restart is the only remedy I have found.

Does anyone know if this is likely to be
CPU, RAM, OS, IE, Nvidia, Graphics Card or something else altogether

    Thanks

Having 30 things open at once is a real strain on system resources, even on a powerful PC. That's alot of stuff for the PC to keep track of. I'm not surprised that the PC slows down and that things get unstable to the point of requiring a reboot. I'm not too sure there's alot you can do to remedy the situation. I know there's memory management tools, and process priority tools that might help a bit, but IMHO, I think you're asking too much from the PC.....

    Thats true, I know

Just interested which part is holding it back, I'm fairly sure it's the CPU.
Just had a brainwave (more of a small splash really)

I'll leave task manager open, and then see what percentage of CPU it is using when i push it too far

Will have to wait for next time I'm ready for a restart though.

    Process Explorer, from
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Process_Explorer_d4566.html
will put an icon down by your time, and show you CPU usage if Task Manager is not working. It is sometimes interesting to compare both, when they are both loaded (and working ;) ).

PE can also be sorted various ways. One way I'd recommend is to sort it to descending CPU usage. Re-size it about 5-6 processes (in descending CPU usage) and minimise it to your system tray. then it will always be instantly available to show what is going on. Bazza

See thumbnail for my example. Remember PE is live and dynamic. It alters every (milli) second. Baz

Just installed Process explorer, looks good :)

fairly sure I've had it installed previously (serial reformatter ;))
    but couldn't find it anywhere

Thanks, should come in handy :wave

    You're welcome. :major
Windows Task manager will do almost the same, but I like to have WTM set up to show Performance tab, for my Duo Core CPU's.

PE can show Comments which I have loaded against each process, to stop me deleting processes that I shouldn't. :D Bazza
