Limited connectivity

Think I might change my name to "anyideas". Shiny laptop which connect fine to the net through my 3 mobile dongle. I want to connect to my BT Voyager Router on my PC. The laptop shows a 5 bar connection available and I have typed in the Network Key but when I try to connect I get the message Limited Connectivity which means basically No Connectivity. I have rebooted the router and laptop but no joy " anyideas"

Have you tried a hard reset?
Power off modem,router AND laptop.
leave off for several minutes.
Then power on the modem only.
once all lights are burning steady, power on the router.
When stable, then power up your laptop.

 

Just tried that but no luck. I can access a wifi cloud etc but not my router. my gut feeling is there is a security issue somewhere.

 

Possible that the router has gone bad?
Or maybe try a different cable for the connection. Have gotten bad ones as brand new.

 

Fixed ! As usual me being a bit thick. I thought the network key was the same as the security key. I tried to download updates for the router from the ISP site and noticed a little section about wireless which told me I could find the key on the bottom of the router !. Feel a bit stupid but not too much as it was hidden well away on the ISP's site. Thanks for looking at my post though.

PS This means I can close the window now as the only way I could get a signal was to dangle my dongle out the bedroom window
