My computer (XP SP2) won't let me connect to the internet and it says I have limited or no connectivity. Windows suggests that I Repair my Local Area Connection, but every time I try, It says it can't finish, because it can't renew th IP address. I have road runner and it's running through a router. I also have an Ethernet/USB converter, because my computer doesn't have an NIC. Can someone please help me get connected to the internet?

First thing to do is power down your network and bring it back up in sequence - modem, router and computer with time for each piece to completely connect up.
If this doesn't work, go to Start > Run > cmd. At the command line do an ipconfig /all.
If the IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, then you are not connecting to the router and have a problem with your USB connection. Perhaps try another USB slot. Also if you have changed any environmental conditions, (loction, new electronics, wireless phone placement, etc.), try going back to the previous arrangement.
If you get a 192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.0.xxx.xxx address, you are connecting to the router but have something else causing the connectivity problem.
Try this out and post back if you still have problems.
    Hope this helps.
