Hi! I've been here before and always recieved fantastic support. Unfortunately :)p), I am back.

I have been running the internet on my PC and a laptop from my cable hookup on a D-Link EBR-2310 router for about 3 weeks. We did some reorganising last night and when we reconnected everything...my PC no longer connects properly. After making sure all cables were working and then losing connectivity to the laptop, we ditched the router for the time being.

Laptop runs fine straight from the cable connection (as demonstrated by my being here). Disconnecting the laptop and connecting the PC to the same connection, with the same cord, produces the following:

    "Limited or no connectivity

You might not be able to access the Internet or some networking resources. This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer."

    Specs:
    Emachines PC
    Windows XP

I've tried the 'easy' fiix-its, including shutting off and restarting, different cables...now I'm stuck.

    Help!

Did you reboot the modem at the same time? May need to do that when switching comps.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have tried rebooting the modem. I also tried restoring my computer back a week, running Spybot, and running AVG. So far, I'm still only able to connect with the laptop.

Can you check in Device Manager to see if your network adapter is functioning? (No ! or ? by the LAN adapter)
Tried disabling any firewalls installed for a short period to see if that is blocking the connection?

I assume you will want to put the router back in operation. Have you given thought to resetting the router to factory defaults and resetting all your connections from scratch? (Not a fix for the connection problem but a work around.)

Problem solved. How...I am not sure. Decided to give the router one more try before the laptop went home to its home today and...everything worked as if there had never been a problem. Nothing else was done in between. Unless it happens again I'm going to chalk it up to a computer hiccup. Thanks to all who read and especially to lbmest for your suggestions.
