    Have you tried:

    SpeedTest

    TCP Optimizer

Not really sure how TCP works but it does and it got my speed upto where they should be.

Click START, then RUN, then type in: cmd (press enter)

    now type in:

    ipconfig /all > results.txt
    notepad results.txt
copy the results and paste here.

Simple question, on the back of your computer, where the nic is, do you have blinking green/yellow lights? On the router, does it show you are connected at that port? Have you tried connecting to a different port? Have you tried a different network cable?

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers for the nic, and re-installing them?

From the results, it is set for DHCP, but, the router isn't handing any IPs out.

    Did you try TCP Optimiser?

I switched over to a newer plan with my ISP (from 512/128 to 1.5/256) and on the day or upload speeds had increased to spec but our DL speed was even slower than the old plan. I ran TCP optimiser and started getting the speeds I should. Very simple program.

I don't see a recent thread in the Malware forum about this. If you think you have malware, I would complete the Read and Run Me procedure and post your logs. Newer forms of malware can kill the net connection.

Agreed on trying to uninstall adapter and rebooting.
Poster said other comps are on the network and connected so this comp is the problem with no connection to router with an APIPA IP address.

Another trouble shooting procedure - Boot into Safe Mode with Networking to see if you can connect with a reduced driver load up.
    A possible fix - Reset TCP/IP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
