    after installing WIN XP SP3, I cannot connect to the internet. I get the old limited or no connectivity message. I can renew my IP address. I've tried everything that I can think of and nothing works.

    Any suggestions from folks who have had this issue?

    Any error message?
    How do you connect to the internet? (dsl, cable or other?)
    State brand of modem and router, if you use a router.

    the diagnostic message is error 12007 connecting to MS and it states that HTTP, HTTPS and FTP connections could not be made.

    Cable modem, but use a wireless router that several other laptops connect to just fine. I also attempt to connect to wireless (open) network at work.

    The wireless is router is netgear.

    I can connect when in safe mode, but I can't go to all sites. I know not all the same network drivers function in safe mode, so I discounted that.

    Just to clarify, you can not connect wired since you installed XP SP3 at home and wirelessly at work. Is this correct - you have no internet connection at both places?
    What brand and model computer? Were you able to connect wirelessly at work before you installed SP3 (some companies won't allow wireless at work so I want to rule that out as a cause).
    Is Internet Explorer your browser? If so, what version? Do you have another browser installed to test to see if that has internet access?

    Notes for me:
    1. IP not reading correctly might need RUN/type in/netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
    2. Firewall issue - can only tell if I can separate work and home problem

    Notes: 3. winsock reset
    netsh winsock reset catalog

    1 above and 3 needs a reboot of the computer.

    4. Check these services:
    * COM+ Event System (for WZC issues)
    * Computer Browser
    * DHCP Client
    * DNS Client
    * Network Connections
    * Network Location Awareness
    * Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    * Server
    * TCP/IP Netbios helper
    * Wireless Zero Configuration (XP wireless configurations)
    * WLAN AutoConfig (Vista wireless configurations)
    * Workstation

    Yes, I was able to connect both at home and work before SP3. We have an unsecured open wireless connections at work so anyone can connect. Alot of folks use laptops in my company including vendors.
