Lines up and down screen?

    I just booted up my desktop today and there were vertical lines all over it when i booted it up. I took out the vid card and put it back in and undid the cables to the monitor and put them back in and it still does it. What would cause this to be happening? Could the video card be going bad?

    I have an Athlon XP 3000 2.0GHz, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb.

    You have to isolate the problem to the computer or the monitor first. So try your monitor on another computer, or another monitor on your computer and see if the problem follows your monitor, or stays with your computer.

    Did it appear to boot completely?
