    Hi,
I have 2 pcs at home.
One is Windows Xp home and the other is Windows Xp Pro.
They both have Pentium 4 processors.
I would like to link them together so that I can transfer files from one pc to the other pc.
Also I want to be able to play network games with the 2 pcs.
    I hope someone can help.
    Thank you.

    Both XP.

It's likely that both have built in ethernet (LAN) ports. These look like extra wide phone (modem) sockets.

If you have these you only need a crossover Lan cable. Plug one end into each pc. Crossover cables from 0.5 m to 30 metres can easily be had very cheaply these days.

The yellow cable in the picture in post 4 of this thread is ethernet. ( I wish we could reuse pictures already uploaded)

Using ethernet is still cheaper, more reliable and easier than any other connection even if you have to install one or two ethernet cards into the pcs.

Once you have connected the pcs you will need to set up yor home network and enable sharing on each pc so that each can actually see the files on the other.

Let us know when you are ready and we will help you through this.
