Link to a form with a pre-filled subject line?

A client of mine has a regular Contact Us form on her site. She's asking if it's possible to have a link elsewhere on the site that, when clicked, goes to the form and has a subject field pre-filled in. The caveat is that this form still needs to exist as a generic Contact Us form when a user navigates to it directly, so I can't just have the subject line exist in the form already: the link has to go to the form page and fill in the field.

Is something like that possible? I know you can create subject-filled mailto links using the ?subject= code, but've never tried to do it with a link to a form and can't think how it might be done. The simpler the better as the site is just .shtml, nothing fancy.

I'm positive that you can, but I cannot tell you how. Sorry... I'm still learning myself.

Just as a lead that you may be able to follow to the answer you need, you should check out form buttons like add to cart buttons. Take the buttons that paypal will generate for you for use on a website as an example. By altering the information in the form, you are able to alter what will be inserted into the forms when you follow the link. I believe something similar to that is what you are looking for, but again, I myself am just learning and cannot instruct you on how to do this or what every section of code does.
