Ok, I've searched here (to no avail), and around the net, but am a bit spooked by some (most ... virtually all, except here) download links.

Where might I (safely) find Firefox 2.0.0.19 (or .18) browser download, please?

    Thanks in advance,
    Glenn

Well thank you, but that's a bit odd, isn't it?

I mean, it has the latest and "greatest" (3.0.4, from TODAY), but it skips from 2.0.0.16, to 3.0 ...

Is it just me, or is that peculiar?

    Thanks again ...

Thank you, however, I got it from Petaluma (below) - straight from Mozilla.

Are you "Positive" about FileHippo? I thought I had some troble from there some years ago ... and thought I read something less-than-complimentary (most likely here, @ MG'S) regarding them?

    Thanks again for the reply!

No, FileHippo is fine as far as I know. The site you may be thinking of that is not preferred by MG is one that even if I wanted to type the name, the filters block it out so it wouldn't show up. Kind of gives you an idea of how it's looked upon here.

Didn't see the earlier post with a link, apologies for that.

Well, the site I was thinking of was the one we've mentioned here, so I'm now wondering what in the heck the site is that you're talking about, so that I (we ... others) may steer clear of it??

Filters, as such, are GREAT, but I'm not so sure they're doing justice if we can't warn each other of problem sites, etc.

Ya know, I've been seeing people get around filters (to a certain extent) recently by typing things such as: s*o*l*a*r*i*s*8*9_c*o*m and the like ... (?).

    Thanks again,
    Glenn ...

The filters are in place for a reason, so I'd rather not try and slip anything by them. If the site isn't mentioned, I don't see how anyone would find it ;)

Perhaps an admin or mod here may want to expand on this, but I won't.

FileHippo is a safe download site as I mentioned; along with downloads here at MG, they are the two sites I do the most downloading from.

We have a few filters in place and it is done with good reason. Attempting to circumvent the filters is a good way to get banned from this site if/when we see it or at the very least, get a member warned & placed on our 'member to watch' list, so to speak.

To suggest/encourage such activity is certainly NOT in your best interest.

As your original question was answered and this thread is now going in a direction it doesn't need to go, thread closed.
