Links not active in MS word

    I have a file saved on my pc with hyper links in it. When I click Control + hyperlink its supposed to open IE and take me to the web page. But it doesnt. I get a system alert Saying this operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Contact system admin.

    This is my person computer at my house and I have Admin control.

    Operating system is Windows XP home Edition.

    Any help.

    I would like to open the webpage with IE when I click the link in MS word.

    Go to Tools > Macro > Security
    Click the security level tab and change the setting to medium.

    Which version of Word are you using. This may have something to do with IE's security and privacy settings. Did you make any changes or have a program that will change these settings?

    Which office version and is it uptodate with latest service pack?

    could try this

    Start IE and go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs Tab then click 'Reset Web Settings' > Restart your computer
