Linksys befsr41

first router is version 2 and will not stop flashing all the lights, bought a new one version 4. this one seems like its working fine, but i cannt get the ping to go anywhere, cannot go into the router, and cant use the internet.

called tech support and they say that the router is probably a defect, wth should i do? can i fix either one? or should i just return and get another? BTW directly to modem works and my modem is a westell 2200 ISP verizon.

 

unplug the power, take a paper clip and push and hold in the reset switch, plugg the power back in, after 30 sec. release the reset switch. this will default the router.

 

that didnt work, i recalled them the next day though and apparantly i had to have the modem unplugged in order to go into the router. it works now, thanks though
