So ... I am replacing my parents router (the DHCP server service keeps dying) & I bought a new Linksys WRT54G router (sadly, not the GL version).

When I opened it up there were BIG RED STICKERS saying RUN CD!!! DO NOT INSTALL W/O RUNNING CD!!!

So ... apparently, the CD installs this EasyLink Advisor. It sounds like it might be OK, but do I NEED it? Has anyone had any experience with it?

I'm inherently skeptical of anything that is "so advanced that it is easy", & would PREFER to manually set it up myself ... but since this IS for my parents, I'm willing to CONSIDER the "easy software" option.

Any opinions or thoughts or experiences? Thanks in advance!!!

Checking FAQs at Linksys, you can remove LELA by using Add/Remove Programs as it is a separate application. Possibly in the initial set up of the router it gives you a choice on install or not. FAQ link
Haven't run across it myself so I can't say if is useful or not.
