Linksys router keeps losing settings...

I've been working on a wireless network at home with no problems for some months now - WAPs and router all Linksys hardware. However:

Three times in the last two weeks, the wireless net has died; the control program set back to the default for channels, SSID, and WEP key. Getting wireless back up requires all the settings be re-input, as well as gyrations that involve power-cycling the cable modem and rebooting systems.

Any idea what might be causing such a problem? The box that's wired on the network hasn't lost connectivity, and all the machines on the network have the firewall and AV software up to date.

First thing, what model of Linksys Router. A router does not do a hard reset, unless there is either some outside intervention (said user resetting the device).

I would like to differ with that statement. I have had a linksys wrt54g do a hard reset in my office at least three - four times since installation last month. The router is in a locked room out of sight. I havnt had any problems in a year though with the same router at home

Go to Linksyss' website and chat with their customer service. Everytime I have had a problem/question about my WRT54G I have went there and they have helped me fix my problem every time. They have great customer service there.

Also keep in mind that we do not know if this other person is using a third party firmware. DLink routers are the worst when resetting, along with Netgear, due to both brands will reboot randomly, compared to the Linksys. Bad power supply, bad firmware (3rd party), someone resetting in the admin control panel (owner did not change the default settings from admin/admin).
