I set all my computers to have a static IP address 192.168.1.xxx and after that each computer is having trouble connecting to some websites.

Ex. I was doing a google search and my browser came back and said it could not find the servers at google.com. I switched back from a static set IP to DHCP for my computer and tried the same search again and got to google right away.

Does anyone have any clue why this would be happeneing?

when you have it set to dhcp and the websites are working, do this:

click start - run - type cmd - hit enter
    command prompt will open up
    in command prompt, type ipconfig/all
    find your Local Area Connection
under local area connection, youll see a bunch of numbers, find where it says DNS servers. Thats the IP of the DNS server you use. you'll have to put that in to the DNS area when youre setting the static IPs on your computers.

I think that is going to help me out.

One other question, could i just keep the Obtain DNS server address automatically checked?

you can try that, yes. if that doesnt work, just assign the static ip of the dns server or keep it all on dhcp.
